A Momma Abroad

Megamall Mega Eats

Guys, Megamall really is a mega mall. While Megamall has heaps of retail options, their food scene continues to get better and better. The last few months I was lucky enough to take a few field trips to newly opened Le Petit Soufflé, Mighty Quinn's and Makansutra. Each establishment wowed me with their food and oozed of cool originality. First up, another wonder by The (not so) Tasteless Group, Le Petite Soufflé with a one of a kind bespoke bakery, Workshop. Chef Miko is a culinary adventurer leading a food revolution in Manila. His vision is broad and artistic but even the least adventurous palette would be swooning. The first branch of LPS opened in Century City and I am stoked to have a branch closer. LPS is an adventure with each course being a surprise from ingredients, flavor combinations or texture. The carbonara is a sight for sore eyes, have a look below. It was almost too beautiful to consume with meringue-like egg whites but the intense flavor begged to be devoured. As you can tell presentation is playful and imaginative which ties hand in hand with the eye catching interiors. Seriously, this restaurant is a happy place. Y'all know I love my green spaces and this feels like a green space (inside of a mall, hats off LPS!)

While every detail of Mighty Quinn's is rock and roll, do not fret. I went in there with my mom jeans and three kids and owned that establishment like a boss. Mighty Quinn's hails from New York and made the jump east with a branch opening in Taipei last year and thankfully a local group begging the brand to grace us here. Hallelujah! You aren't going to find smoked meat more legit than this place. There are no frills it is just the best damn barbecue I've ever had, funny that I am saying this in Manila. Get your butts there! (*Since I have a little one who is gluten free this is a very easy place to eat and they are mindful of GF options, which are hardly even needed.)

The inspiring story of Hugh Mangum starting this small business from his garage using his last dollars left me with a hunger to follow my dreams. I don't know if I have ever been so moved inside of a restaurant before.

You won't find a place more family friendly than Makansutra. I swear the food is delicious but the amenities for moms is where they hold my heart. You heard me. Changing tables, they got 'em. Multiple booster seats with trays, all set for you to go. Kids meals including milo dinosaurs, check. Multiple food options to please everyone all with in the same place, it is all here. They did not miss an opportunity to make this a go to for families.

Now that I have covered the mommy necessities, let's chat about the concept. Singaporean hawker food hall, right here! KF Seetoh teamed up with Chef JJ and Chef Him to bring this international food hall to our finger tips. All the vendors and their recipes hail from Singapore except one. This is as legit as it comes people. The price is just right and the food is wonderful. The coffee ribs were my favorite and the satay, masarap! (*Since I have a little one who is gluten free they have many GF options.)
