Pasig Paskotitap, Christmas Lights and Float Parade

The Philippines knows how to party and Christmas is no exception. The 'Ber months (SeptemBER, OctoBer, NovemBer, DecemBer) kick off the four month holiday season. Each year I learn a new way the Philippines celebrates Christmas and last year was no exception.

Being slightly annoyed by the abundance of tarpaulin traffic announcements my interest was piqued as the cautions were due to holiday celebrations. There was the tree lighting ceremony, Christmas gatherings at SM Hypermarket and the Paskotitap Parade. I consulted the Google about the float parade and was immediately sold by the epic displays of floats and intense costumes. I had always wanted to attend a festival in the Philippines but hadn't yet. Paskotitap is definitely not even in the same realm as province festivals but much preferred by my palate. I could walk there and eat Potato Corner while enjoying the five minute parade with my family, a victory all the way around! This was also the event that taught me the phrase, "Picture daw?"

Here are the photos I took last year during the hustle and bustle of preparing for the parade later that evening. The colors, details and hours of work involved was remarkable! The event this year will begin on Frontera Drive on December 10 at 6pm and proceed a specific route through Pasig. I will definitely be there with my crazies and Potato Corner.
