An Eco Friendly Store That Won't Break The Bank: The Allganic Store at Pioneer Center

Manila really does have everything and that includes eco-conscious and organic options. We spent the month of July in the States visiting family and I was shocked at the consumption of single use plastics and paper/plastic waste to serve for minor conveniences. While Manila can have intense pollution and a bay full of rubbish, I believe that Manileño millenials are leading an eco-conscious crusade.

In the last few years plastic straws have been banned from most cities in the metro and a number of grocery stories as well. There have been a number of online sellers and small shops popping up to support this movement. Many of these new establishments carry high price tags which only allow those with a high income to support the cause. I have visited a handful of shops in Manila and I am happy to share a budget and eco-friendly option, The Allganic Store in Pioneer Center.

You will find the most affordable options for stainless straws (70-80php), bamboo tooth brushes (35php lang!), laundry detergent and the best part: everything is sourced locally. The Allganic store is a champion of local brands, especially the smaller labels from remote areas. They carry mushroom powder from Nueva Vizcaya as well as yakon syrup. Ditch the imported kale and use dried malunggay or moringga in both varieties or fresh or dried. You’ll also find well known names as well such as Holly’s Milk (the best real fresh milk in Manila) and Super Scoops Vegan Dairy Free ice cream (my favorite).

the best pasalubong!

While Manila may be dense and struggle with pollution and garbage, there are torch bearers leading the way to improve the quality of life for all. Let us do our part and support local companies, ditch the plastic and help Mother Earth and future generations along the way. Thanks to the Allganic Store for giving us the opportunity to support this cause.
