Faber Fiber Studio| What Dreams Are Made Of

There are people and places that when I meet or visit for the first time it’s as if my souls gets zapped with a recharge of energy. I think this energy is for me I can be creativity, inspiration, love or even acceptance. I had a soulful day last month at Faber Fiber Studio and I’d love to share some thoughts and feelings about it.

I feel at home in Manila. I feel like me. I feel seen for who I am. I love singing and dancing even if I’m not good at it but Manila doesn’t care, anyone can sing and dance anywhere! I’m most alive when I’m learning something new and that happens each day here. I feel alive in the tropical jungle just outside of our concrete jungle. Spending a day at Faber Fiber Studio intertwined so many of my values and wove them into a perfect tapestry that reset my soul. The colors, the space, the artist and the creating were all elements that spoke so strongly.

Hidden in the lush rolling hills of Silang Cavite you will find Faber Fiber perched in the sun of The Hills At Silang

Faber Studio is quite possibly one of my favorite places in the Philippines. When I walked into Chesca’s place I felt at home. It was bright, airy, full of color and a place that promotes creativity, all personal values that mean so much to me. Plus, I went with good girlfriends which made it pure bliss.

the workspace that every crafter lusts after

COLOR COLOR EVERYWHERE

Practice pieces from Chesca’s recent show, A Beautiful Mess, were a perfect preview for the exhibit. We were fortunate to visit the exhibit right before it closed and it was brilliant, no surprise.

chesca’s husband made this light fixture with coffee stirs!

We went down on my birthday and Chesca had this waiting for me, I hadn’t even met her yet. Her beauty is unbound in both the way she creates and the human she is.

Faber Fiber Studio is a workspace for Chesca and for anyone who wants to have a creative making session with Chesca for Saori Weaving. These are the incredible macrame she weaves.

SOARI WEAVING

Chesca is really an artist across multiple mediums, today she was sharing her knowledge of Saori Freestyle Weaving. Soari Freestyle Weaving is the weaving art form that comes from Japan and was started by a 57 year old woman named, Misao. She noticed the imperfection in weaving patterns and began to create imperfections on purpose! It’s all so wonderful, a woman who may seem ‘too old’ doing something intentionally that is ‘abnormal’ or even seen as a flaw. Soari Freestyle Weaving really allows the maker freedom to intentionally gain creative control with out boundaries. What a though! I feel in love with the concept.

there is something so magical to me in seeing one create with their hands

During the creative session Chesca has developed a great teaching module in which she guides with wisdom but steps back and let’s the maker create at ease. All the supplies to create a wall hanging are provided in the workshop fee and there are SO MANY choices of colors, textures and spools to choose from. I would suggest having an idea of what you want before you arrive, all the beauty astounded me and made hard to decide.

a soulful day filled with creating and friends, I couldn’t ask for more

Manila really does have everything, whatever your soul craves we can find it, sometimes it’s just a matter of how we look for it. I hope you find your happy space.
