Perks Of Pinas: Heyjow Jewelry

One of the ways I finally felt at home in Manila was when I started learning of and supporting local small businesses. A hashtag our Instagram community uses ,#perksofpinas, focuses on finding the good we have right here. It’s easy to miss your previous normalcy or favorites from home and it’s also a treat when the brand makes it all the way here to Manila. However, I found that when I became a champion for local products I felt more connected to the community here and felt like I was integrating and planting roots. One of those local favorite brands that I love is jeweler, Heyjow.

I have featured Heyjow a number of times on this blog before because I am an avid fan and was even lucky enough to be featured on her site. I love Joana’s designs, materials, combinations and colors she uses. I did not own nice jewelry until I moved here and felt like a real lady thanks to Heyjow.

The H2O collection is features glass beads with intricate designs found in each colorful piece. As a young girl I traveled to Italy with one of my older brothers and a highlight was visiting the glass blowing island of Murano. Whenever I wear these earrings they bring me back to my youth and the memories of that trip.

the matte gold detail is the unique feature of all of Joana’s pieces and my personal favorite detail as well!

So, wether it’s jewelry, leather bags, artisanal soap or whatever your heart desires, be on the hunt for a local option. Meet the maker, chat up the seller, visit the workshop or store room. Manila is full of surprises, I hope you find what you’re looking for to call it home.

Kita Kita,
