When Dreams Come True: Rainbow Striped Inabel

I will declare that September 7, 2019 is the happiest day of my life. It was the day I received the rainbow striped inabel of my dreams. I say this mostly joking but in terms of the textiles milestones in my life, this is by far the happiest.

Four years ago we went on a 10 day tour of Ilocos Norte and it was one of our dearest trips as a family. We visited a number of weaving communities which sealed the deal of my forever-love of inabel. When Abel Philippines opened up shop in Manila (online) and became my inabel pushers my life got even better. Ha!

For months Dex of Abel Philippines and I have wanted to collaborate together. I sent him some photo inspiration along with a few notes while I was in the states for the summer and upon my return what did I find out? The weaving community made it happen!

it only seemed right to take this table top photo with my new love

Bright light, white walls and pops of color are my design heaven and to see this translated over into inabel was super special. The size of the stripes, the bold colors chosen and the burst of white lighten the blanket and make it a true burst of instant happiness.

lovely solid color blocked napkins adorned with a ceramic sugar jeepney jar from local favorite Liwayway Ph are the perfect pair! And since we’re in the ‘Pinas, coco natura is the sugar of choice. Both of these items from Liwayway and Abel Philippines will be available at Katutubo Pop Up Market Sept 20-22.

The best news: Abel Philippines will have a number of these limited rainbow pieces at the Katutubo Pop Up Market. There will be a number of local brands at the Katutubo Pop Up Market on September 20-22 at Bench Tower BGC. I hope to see you there!

Manila, you make dreams come true. Weavers, I love you!

Kita Kita,
