Using Social Media To Your Advantage: Paper Con Manila 2019
Social Media is a tricky aspect of life to balance. For those of you who don’t have a struggle with the social meeds, I applaud you. My personal opinion is that social media isn’t going anywhere so I will try my best to develop a healthy relationship with it. One of those ways is leveraging social media for our good. I have talked about that perspective before on my blog and today and I’d like to share a way that recently lead me to a phenomenal place attachment experiment.
Facebook can be a time suck and petri dish for negativity, if you let it. It can also be a source for community connection and opportunities to engage in real life. One of my favorite features as of late is the Facebook ‘Near Me’ events pages. Because FB has a creepy watch on our lives and locations it has developed an algorithm to suggest events that are near us and intersect with our interests and/or common friends. Thanks to this feature I actually learned of the first ever Paper Con. That’s right, a paper convention and it was everything my paper loving heart could desire.
Go ahead, hop on over to FB and have a search around. What did you find?
There are few things I nerd out harder on than paper, stickers, baskets, inabel… you get it. Visiting Paper Con was a highlight of my month. Being surrounded by other crafters, stationary addicts and sticker enthusiasts was a trip. I was completely blown away by how much foot traffic there was as well. It was only a day so the crowd seemingly never let up.
It was delightful to meet local artists and feel inspired by the local talent we have here in Manila. Overall, the event was well organized and a great experience. Thanks to FB events feature I was able to love one more part of Manila. If you’re feeling unsettled, lost or uninspired try something new like visiting a group event or workshop near you. If nothing else, you’ll visit a new spot and learning something new about yourself.
Kita Kita,
Amber
