Design Mom Feature
Eeeek! Ang saya, we were featured on Design Mom’s Living With Kids series. When I first started my Interior Design program last September at Philippine School of Interior Design I noticed a lack of conversation about family centered spaces. When people in the design world talk interior design, kids and family interiors are often glazed over or skipped over completely. Excuses like, “they will out grow the space fast,” or “the kids just sleep with their parents so there is no point in decorating the space,” and it leaves me uninspired and bummed out. Using my home as a canvas was the creative medium the held my hand through years of staying at home with children, it enlivened me and challenged me. I LOVED creating a home and Design Moms series, Living With Kids, has given me appreciation for the work she is doing and for the work I have done in our own home.
Living With Kids series is the vehicle brilliant Gabrielle Blaire uses as she marries design and motherhood. Stories of culture, life, hardship and humanity are all part of the score of the series. I feel so fortunate to be included.
You can read our feature here and find more in the series here. This is by far the most transparent and comfortable feature I have been a part of. My voice felt like me and I am so grateful and appreciative of the editor Josh Bingham is. It’s not easy to construct a narrative via emails and no in person meetings and he did an impressive job. Thanks Josh and Gabby!
