Pilipino Library: A Lolong Time Ago: A Prehistory of the Philippines
My knowledge of how things are in the Philippines only goes back until 2009 when we first moved here. It is so fascinating to see photos of Manila from decades before my time. It is a favorite when friends share photos of their Lolas and Lolas from the 60’s and 70’s, I love seeing a new to me (old) Manila. Recently, I took the fascination with pre-Amber-Philippine history a bit further back, like all the way back to prehistoric times through the book, A Lolong Time Ago: A Prehistory Of The Philippines.
A Lolong Time Ago is a simple read but packed with so much entertaining information. The target audience is definitely for children and teens but I loved every page and tidbit of information.
The book is organized through a prehistoric timeline however, you won’t feel overwhelmed with too much information as each stage of history builds upon itself. Plus, it is conveyed in a highly entertaining and modern way. It's a fun read for all ages!
I had so much fun finally learning the back story of the original hand lettering and alphabet of the Filipino people.
As you can see just from the pictures and text the pages mix humor and history perfectly!
A Lolong Time Ago is great resource to those who are new to the Philippines, lived here all your life and Filipinos or non-Filipinos alike. I cannot recommend this resource enough. The more you know about your host country, the more connected you feel and that is certainly true after I finished reading this book. Go out and get a copy today!
Happy reading kaibigan!
