Nursery Rhymes With Tahanan Books: Ed-Eddoy
Ed-Eddoy is probably my favorite of the series from Tahanan Nursery Rhymes for a number of reason. The story features Bugan, a mythical figure taken from epic Ifugao (Ipugo, which means people of the earth) song Hudhud. Bugan is the first female in the Ifugao origin tale. She is a wife, mother and major role in the livelihood of the family and community. She is a strong female deity/character from back in the day. Pilipinas, I love you! (p.s. you gotta read about how Bathala, a Filipino mythological deity, split bamboo to create a man and a woman EQUALLY.)
Tahanan Books has a mission to not only provide Filipino books but to educate as well. In the last few pages of this Nursery Rhymes series there are informative pages about the highlighted culture, language and includes the music sheet as well!
Pilipinas, I adre you. Tahanan Books may you continue to share the incredible stories that belong to this nation. The more I learn about our home country the more I appreciate it.
