Washington SyCip Park, Reinvented
And what do we have here? A delicious park in the heart of the city. If Makati was a physical person I would cup it's cheeks in my hands pull it in real tight and lay a big fat kiss of gratitude on its luscious lips. But since I can't creepily express my gratitude through affection I will frequent this park often and declare to all of you good people that you should patron this green space as well.
Washington SyCip Park was first created in 2006 and finished a seven month renovation last December 2017. Washington SyCip Park has been updated as well as Legazpi Active Park with new art installations, a running track and covered gazebos for gatherings. Don't forget to stop by the Legazpi Market if you go on a Sunday.
My go-to park toy are these cheap-o frisbees from Decathlon (they deliver by the way). It's the lowest maintenance activity I can do with my kids but still be engaged, therefore it is my favorite. :) Grass open space and tall trees are all a very happy combination and not something we take for granted.
The Crane and Turtle Garden in the corner of SyCip Park is a peaceful sanctuary with its whimsy bamboo fountains and rock formations.

A nice running track has been added to the Legazpi Active Park. There is also a play structure but it has not been up dated and doesn't have a lot of shade. It was still fun but got quite warm.
I deposited the little nuggets with my husband at the play structure and headed to the market to pick up some bites for lunch. I love markets in Manila so very much. We snacked on fresh grilled corn, Hungarian sausages, falafel, popsicles and a bottle of homemade ginger ale.

I may have wandered ever so slightly when I was on my food pickup. Legazpi Market has a wonderful assortment of handicrafts.
It's easy to forget we have green spaces in Manila because it takes a lot of effort to find them. I hope we do a better job of searching them out and reminding one another that they exist. I would love if you would share your favorite parks with me. Nature really is a happy place, even in the heart of the city.
